Creating a Breastfeeding-Friendly Office

Obstetrician-gynecologists and other maternity care providers play a vital role in communicating the importance of breastfeeding and helping new mothers get breastfeeding off to a good start. This short course includes:

  • a roadmap for organizing a breastfeeding-friendly office or clinic.
  • valuable resources to help you provide meaningful breastfeeding support for women and infants during and immediately after birth.

Refer-a-Mom

Refer your patient to WIC if:

  • She is pregnant, postpartum or has a child up to age 5,
  • She or her child receives Medicaid, SNAP or TANF. Even if your patient does not receive these programs, they may still qualify for WIC by meeting the income guidelines for their household.

It only takes a few minutes to fill out the online form. Afterwards, let your patient know WIC will contact her to schedule an appointment and guide her through the rest of the process.
