Tongue tie results in the presence of a sublingual frenulum that restricts mobility and function of the tongue. Breastfeeding can be difficult if the baby is unable to secure a deep latch. Tongue-tie often causes ineffective milk removal which leads to milk stasis and other issues including nipple pain and trauma.
